During the pandemic, there’s been a huge surge in adopting pets. What do you think are the benefits of that trend, and also, maybe, the potential perils?
In a time of crisis, when people feel things are uncertain and people feel isolated or scared, to be able to bond with an animal is so important. For so many people, it wasn’t just: Oh, it’s convenient. I’m working from home. It’s: I need to have this kind of connection, this unconditional love. And [animals] provide that. That’s who they are. That’s what they do.

Shadow Banning Advocates

Twitter has decided to shadowban not only my account yet that of my friend Gwen. I wonder if Twitter realizes just how detrimental that is to animal welfare.

We have followed their TOS to a T. Yet they have decided to secretly block our tweets. Our petition still needs signatures to pass legislation. Yet with this ban, It may not happen.

Protestors accuse Subway of causing animal suffering
Three UK animal protection organisations are urging the fast-food chain Subway to take immediate action on the suffering of chickens raised for meat.
As part of a European wide campaign in 14 countries, campaigners are highlighting Subway’s inaction through protests, petitions and social media. There are more than 42,000 franchise restaurants associated with Subway worldwide.
Animal Equality, Open Cages and The Humane League UK say Subway have ignored calls from all three organisations to improve chicken welfare in the footsteps of their competitors, such as KFC. Severe health issues due to selective breeding, extremely overcrowded sheds, and often ineffective stunning methods prior to slaughter, are all part of everyday life in the broiler chicken industry. The conditions on typical UK chicken farms are so harsh that birds often suffer from lameness, deformities and heart attacks, with many dying before they even reach the slaughterhouse.
A new set of standards called the Better Chicken Commitment is being signed by a wave of companies, most recently Leon, Wahaca and KFC. Approximately 200 companies from the USA and Europe have already committed to fulfil the requirements. The organisations state that Subway’s claims of high welfare standards are in direct contrast to reality, and highly misleading to their customers.
“Subway are seriously misleading their customers on animal welfare.”Says Open Cages CEO Connor Jackson. “As a leading animal protection organisation, we can assure that the conditions Subway chickens live in are horrific and outdated – and not ‘high standard’ as they claim. With competitor giants like KFC committing to better welfare, there is no excuse for Subway to continue allowing such suffering.”
“Along with Animal Equality and The Humane League, we are therefore forced to inform their customers directly with the launch of this campaign, with the hope that Subway will make the right decision and sign the Better Chicken Commitment. Their customers will not stand for animal cruelty.”
Subway has avoided making a concrete statement regarding the Better Chicken Commitment for the past two years, said Open Cages, even though the company has already agreed to implement higher animal welfare standards for broiler chickens in the USA and Canada.
The Better Chicken Commitment requires companies to source breeds with higher welfare outcomes, provide more space, and end the use of ineffective stunning methods for 100 percent of chickens in their meat supply chain.

Cetaceans
Cetaceans, what is that? A majority of people have never heard this word before.
Description of Cetaceans: are aquatic mammals constituting the infraorder Cetacea. There are around 89 living species, which are divided into two parvorders. The first is the Odontoceti, the toothed whales, which consist of around 70 species, including the dolphin, porpoise, beluga whale, narwhal, sperm whale, and beaked whale.
According to WWF and other marine biologists, Cetaceans are Facing a multitude of hazards.
Whales, dolphins and porpoises are succumbing to new and ever-increasing dangers. Collisions with ships and entanglement in fishing gear threaten the North Atlantic right whale with extinction, while the Critically Endangered Western North Pacific gray whale is at serious risk because of intensive oil and gas development in its feeding grounds.
Alarm is also growing over other hazards including toxic contamination, the effects of climate change and habitat degradation.
It’s illegal, but it still happens: commercial whaling
Despite a moratorium on commercial whaling and the declaration of virtually the whole of the Southern Ocean as a whale sanctuary, each year over 1,000 whales are killed for the commercial market.
This is why we need appropriate aquariums for these cetaceans. We need to have a safe haven for them, where they are not going to be hunted down or used as entertainment. We have conservative/Protected lands for our land wildlife.
Why can’t we have the same for the Cetaceans, by making a barrier big enough to protect while also not damaging the environment, yet given them plenty of room. We have the technology to do this for them.
Because as we well know hunters will NEVER STOP. We have to start somewhere to save the lives of aquatic life.
Common Sense Gun Laws
Guns are dangerous in the wrong hands, no matter how much some would like to think otherwise. The fact remains we do need more common-sense gun laws and control.
We need to ban assault rifles, for civilian use. Ak47(WASR-10), Remington, M4, and M16 just to name a few, should not be accessible for civilians. Especially, those who are mentally unstable. Who are not only a danger to themselves, yet to others as well.
Those with a criminal background should be disallowed from purchasing and owning, those who are unstable should be denied. Thorough background checks need to be done.
Weapons Dealers (private sellers) sorry to say should have a license to sell and carry and be registered. As well as take classes to notice the signs of instability. I say this because of the constant mass shootings happening over the past few years. Everyone who owns or plans to purchase needs to register themselves.
This will cut crimes in half and make police work more efficient. By way of finding the owners faster during a shootout investigation.
These are consequences for horrid actions. I know I can’t be the only one tired of these travesties. Human life is precious, just like all life is.
Quite frankly, I don’t care for the NRA since they really have not been doing their true job. Which is supposed to mainly be for gun safety education. Yet lately it has been for lobbying on gun rights and ownership. instead of trying to place common-sense laws.
Truthfully I doubt they care about public safety anymore since they have been a big buyer for anti-law bills.
In order to fight for common-sense laws, people need to attend town meetings with facts and a calm demeanor.
Let me make this perfectly clear I’m not saying take guns away. I’m saying ban assault rifles that have been the biggest part of mass shootings. Assault rifles have been banned before during the Clinton administration and the massacres/gun violence WAS at an all-time low. We need to implement that law again for the populace’s safety.
We will work on a plan, statement for our area to present. When done we will share it here for others to use as a foothold for public safety.
Cat Declawing: It’s Wrong
We need signatures, in order to be able to even think about handing in our petition, to outlaw cat declawing in the state of Pennsylvania.
Our Petition can be found here: https://www.causes.com/campaigns/923454-outlaw-cat-declawing
Without your help, this barbaric practice will continue. The effects of declawing any cat outweigh mere item damage. Cats who’ve been declawed live life in pain. Never putting full weight on their paws, some get infections to where they need surgery to correct the damage caused. This can lead to more tissue death. Others become mentally ill by way of constantly licking their paw, to the point of rawness and down to their bone. Others shake their paw constantly.
New York, has banned declawing, let’s work together to do the same here.
Who I choose to work with is my decision.
My name is Gwendolyn Cho, my choice to work with Mrs. Robbins is exactly that, my choice. I have been friends with her for 12+ years in real life. I have worked with her since the summer internship at a Veterinarians office in Pennsylvania, which turned into a Banfield.
I have volunteered by her side in shelters and I have stayed in constant contact with her when she moved out of state and back again. I have also worked alongside her as a whistleblower on corrupt organizations. Although I have never used Facebook or have had a WordPress until now, with a convincing dialogue from her. I stand by my choice.
I do not appreciate the appalling e-mail received two days ago. Stating so many falsehoods in several paragraphs, of harassment and slandering of character.
I will not share that email, it does not need any more attention. Moreover, it is with law enforcement.
To paraphrase the content of the email. In basic understanding. They have stated that my friend is a cyberbully and a person who abandons animals. These statements are not true in the least!
The facts are she became mixed up with the wrong people during a heated campaign to stop several corrupt organizations. She was used, lied to and stalked offline and on. She was pushed to a point of no return. By no return, I do mean she did try to end everything. And she is still recovering from that decision.
Her private address shared repeatedly and her online business with her artwork, destroyed by way of a smear campaign. Her fathers memorial and family were mixed up with her ex-friends. Not only that, but it too had slanderous remarks which were removed by the editorial team of the site. Mrs. Robbins has had to uproot and move and during this move, she has lost everything and one that was dear to her.
(Her companions were REHOMED, with the exception of one. Her pit bull who was stolen by her Mother-inlaw. And given to another family, without her knowledge until months after the fact. Her pit bull was her emotional support service animal and family member. I will not go into the details of how horrid the M.I.L is).
This whole thing that is continuing for 5+ years is malicious, moreover, it helps no one. It hinders, especially, when certain people tell others not to sign petitions for animals that are in desperate need of help.
This blog is meant for animal rights and welfare as well as for laws to be adjusted. Or in other terms enforced by the authorities. Yet, I have to take a moment to defend not only a great advocate/activist, in addition to that, my choice as well?
Enough of this, I will always stand by my choices and Mrs. Robbins. Because she does what she sets out to do. Which is Helping animals have rights and freedoms as well as loving homes.
Moreover, when she feels comfortable enough to write again I will wholeheartedly let her use this WordPress to do so.
I apologize for this post, yet I believe it was needed to get a point across. That drama, harassment and or slanderous remarks will not be tolerated. That there will be consequences by way of the legal system. 🚨

Don’t Dump Animals On The Street
There are advocates out there driven by emotions instead of logic. These advocates are a danger for animal kind. A friend of ours encountered such a person on a public forum. While defending responsible owners for surrendering their beloved companions to a shelter, because they fell on hard times. Losing a job and forced to move out of state, to a place that has restrictions, is all too familiar to our friend.
The moment that our friend defended the owner was the very moment an irrational advocate lunged at her verbally.
Stating: ” I would rather go hungry and die before placing my fur kids in the shelter. I would even rather see them running free on the streets” among other hateful words.
Okay, let’s make some things very clear here about dumping your animals on the streets.
First Your animals are domesticated, they have no clue how to survive without human intervention.
Second, not everyone is kind to strays or homeless beings. Rocks are thrown, people put poison in food or water. Dog fighters pick up strays to use as baiting. Some people even shoot to kill.
Third, if cruel people don’t get a hold of the now new stray that you just casually dumped. The elements will, by which we mean your dumped companion can die from exposure. Heat, cold, other animals and or cars. Not to mention the slow painful way to die by way of starvation.
Fourth, on top of all that if your companion isn’t spayed or neutered, what do you think happens? The stray population grows, and the majority of the time it causes a FERAL colony. Which is not only dangerous for the general public yet also dangerous for the animals.
Yes, most shelters kill to make room. Others use a fostering program to make room. And about a third are a pet store affiliated facility that makes room for new animals by giving animals to pet stores, such as PetSmart and Petco.
People have options when it comes to surrendering their animals for any legitimate reasoning.
Dumping them on the street IS NOT and SHOULD NOT be one of those options.
Those who advocate for dumping on the street are those who have no true compassion for animal life. Streetlife is full of suffrage and it’s no place for any living beings.
So please, use the shelters, or find a home for your companions. Just don’t dump them on the streets.
Animal Lives Matter
The lives of animals matter, yet some think otherwise. Some think human life is greater than that of Animal Life, and that animals deserve zero rights to life.
We are in the age of technology, where we do not need to experiment on animals just to find a cure for some kind of ailment. We are capable of finding cures through virtual reality through a combination of a computer program, mathematics and yes, even virtual chemicals. It is no longer science fiction, it is science fact.
Yet here scientists sit in a laboratory studying and testing on living beings who are unable to say stop. Who are unable to say you are hurting us, who are scared and in pain every day of the week.
I write this in disgust of an article that was shared with me on Facebook, of how the Government just gave the go-ahead to experiment on live dogs.
The US government has decided to press ahead with controversial experiments on dogs, despite critics in congress and elsewhere attacking them as cruel and unnecessary. The department for veterans affairs (VA) has approved the continuation of the testing, which it says will help doctors find new ways to treat wounded soldiers, according to USA Today.
Researchers running the experiments will remove sections of the dogs’ brains that control breathing, sever spinal cords to test cough reflexes and implant pacemakers before triggering abnormal heart rhythms. All the dogs involved will ultimately be euthanized.
These experiments are otherwise known as Vivisection. Here’s the article: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/dogs-experiments-veterans-affairs-us-government-fatal-animal-congress-a8616861.html
What is Vivisection?
Vivisection, operation on a living animal for experimental rather than healing purposes; more broadly, all experimentation on live animals. It is opposed by many as cruelty and supported by others on the ground that it advances medicine; a middle position is to oppose unnecessarily cruel practices, use alternatives when possible, and restrict experiments to necessary medical research (as opposed, for example, to cosmetics testing). Surgery on animals without anesthesia was once common; many people, most significantly René Descartes, claimed that animals did not really feel pain. The testing of certain chemicals on animals to find the lethal dose still occurs.
Is Vivisection Against The Law?
Simply put it is very legal in the United States. Although highly controversial, to where activists have gone to jail for sabotaging the experimental torture. Which I truly tip my hat to them, for the courage it takes to make those rescues happen.
Right now, these dogs and other animals are going to need everyones help, escaping from the hell that will be taken place. We must raise our voices. Write, tweet, and call into the legislation, the Senate as well as the house of representatives. In order to halt the atrocities from happening to these animals.
No animal deserves to be treated with such malice, just so some cure can be found. Animal lives matter. Moreover, it is about time that our government realizes just how much they matter.
As always, when contacting officials, be diplomatic and state facts. Keep persisting, no matter how many times they may hang up, or walk away. Vigilant Persistence will save lives.

Social Media Blocking Animal Rights Groups
We have received several messages stating that Facebook has blocked our articles from being shared to their platform.
Social media like Facebook and Twitter have been blocking Animal Rights advocates for a couple of years now and although we are not on Facebook, we see this as a big issue when advocating. Especially when our readers are unable to share our articles on the platform of choice.
The problem with blocking advocates for either right of animals or human rights is the fact that awareness cannot get across to the readers who act, adopt or donate to legitimate causes.
Which leaves animal and human lives in danger. Therefore, the question remains is how do we fix this problem? Boycotting seems feasible yet doubtful that ”Zuckerberg” would remotely care if he loses a handful of people, when millions if not billions of people use his platform. Unless his whole user base disappears and stops putting money in.
That’s when we looked at alternative platforms for advocacy. We have found that the alternative sites listed here at MTE are more adequate than that of Facebook. They do not sell information of their users nor do they block informative posts. They actually respect their consumer base.
So if you find yourself in a predicament of needing to change platforms for your advocacy and or organization, we recommend that you check out the alternative sites. To keep people informed or to help save the animal and human lives.
We hope that this article helps you to save more lives and to get your information across to the populace.
