Petition Update

I have been debating whether or not to share this news with everyone. It breaks my heart that our Government in the state of Pennsylvania is heartless.

Subject: Petition Signatures: Outlaw Cat Declaw ■ EXTERNAL EMAIL ■

To Representatives, Senators and Lt Governor,I have attached the following document for you to look over. With the hopes that you will come to a logical and fair decision. The document contains over 850 signatures requesting that Pennsylvania, follow suit with New York, and outlaw the barbarity that is cat declawing.I am also including the link to the petition, https://www.change.org/p/pennsylvania-governor-outlaw-the-declawing-of-cats
Declawing of cats has been a part of managing the scratching behavior of objects in cats. However, this barbaric tradition to protect ”items” and other material possession has caused more harm than good. Declawing cats has left them physically and mentally scarred for life.
We sit here on the precipice of destroying our beloved companions just to protect a few pieces of furniture or walls. All of which can easily be replaced, repaired and or protected by other humane ways.

Declawing of cats should never be an option. Scratching objects and or trees is a natural instinct for cats. The Medical drawbacks to declawing include pain in the paw, infection, tissue necrosis (tissue death), lameness, and back pain. Removing claws changes the way a cat’s foot meets the ground and can cause pain similar to wearing an uncomfortable pair of shoes.

Those who declaw their cats are basically torturing cats for a lifetime. Some cats, even big cats in zoos go through life never placing full weight on paws, some even developed a mental disorder. Leading them to constantly lick and or shake their paw uncontrollably.

Not to mention if cats should escape outside how would they ever defend themselves against other cats or wildlife? They wouldn’t and due to that inability to defend or climb a tree, they would most likely die.

Why declaw when There are many alternatives to declawing that doesn’t leave a hazardous effect. Such as having professional clip nails as they do for dogs. Nail caps that can be adjusted to their size. And then there is double-sided tape to protect walls and door frames. Bumpers to protect furniture and non-toxic apple bitter to deter them from scratching up surfaces.

There’s also an environmentally friendly cat tree. Made of hemp, cardboard, dead tree bark and sea rope. All of which is biodegradable and reusable.

Declawing should be nonexistent, it should be considered animal cruelty and punishable if done/practiced by any person.
I thank you for your time and understanding.

Regards Mrs. Mary Robbins

Their Response

The fact that it took them 6 months is appalling. Don’t even get me started on meetings. This is a blanket statement and a complete letdown. If the state of Pennsylvania refuses to hear their people then it’s time to go over heads.

I don’t trust the Secretary of Muth. If Muth was so involved with animal welfare there would be a TNR program in place. There would be NO-Kill shelters and there would be no open door policy shelters either.

There are now over 3,000 signatures plenty to get the ball rolling with the upper legislation via the POTUS/House/Senate legislation. I will continue to push this issue.

Stop Pandemics at the Source – Ban Live Animal Markets and Factory Farms

By: Animal Place

COVID-19 has forever changed our world. In one year, 115 million global cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed. And sadly, 2.5 million people around the world have died. In the United States, over 28.7 million cases have been confirmed and over half a million people have died.

Most infectious diseases can be traced back to animals, including COVID-19. Large live animal markets provide a perfect breeding ground for a pandemic. So do the livestock auctions and live animal markets of the United States.

But how different is a live animal market abroad or in the U.S. compared to an industrial chicken farm in the United States? The similarities are frightening. 99% of animals raised in the US come from large-scale operations where stressed and terrified animals are crammed into small spaces often living in their own feces and other bodily fluids.

That’s why calling for an end to wild animal markets is not enough. It is time to make a change. To prevent pandemics like coronavirus we must end the demand for animal flesh and go vegan.

Stop pandemics where they start. Sign our petition today and demand an end to live animal markets and industrial factory farms.

Petition: Don’t Annihilate Entire Colony of Cliff Swallows – ForceChange

Target: Caroline Mulroney, Minister, Ministry of Transportation Ontario

Goal: Protect the colony of Cliff Swallows under the Argyle Bridge before it is demolished.

The Argyle Bridge in Ontario is home to the largest colony of Cliff Swallows in the area. Yet it is slated for demolition and reconstruction, posing a serious threat to the birds. The new bridge design does not allow the swallows to make nests as they cannot build on a metal structure, putting the 65 current nests and their residents in danger. Animal protection regulations are being blatantly ignored since any colony over eight nests must be protected.

The government is paying $2 million to protect the local mussel population in the water, but refuses to make any changes to help the Cliff Swallows. This is especially negligent since simple solutions, such as coating the metal beams, would allow the swallows to safely nest.

Sign this petition to urge the government to responsibly care for a protected migratory species, and safeguard the Cliff Swallows.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Honourable Mulroney,

The destruction of the Argyle Bridge also spells destruction for the Cliff Swallows that find homes under its arches. Simple measures can be taken to make the new bridge a suitable habitat for these animals, yet your government is failing to take adequate measures.

The 65 nests under the bridge make perhaps the largest colony in southern Ontario, and it is negligent to ignore the significance of a nest site of this magnitude.

The project is clearly concerned about its environmental impact, as indicated by the vigilance of the mussels in the water, and I urge you to safeguard all animals who are impacted by this construction.

Protect the vulnerable Cliff Swallows under Argyle Bridge.

Sincerely,

President-elect Joe Biden has pledged to ban new oil and gas leasing

President-elect Joe Biden has pledged to ban new oil and gas leasing on America’s federal public lands and waters on Day One of his administration.

Nearly a quarter of the country’s total greenhouse gas emissions come from public lands due to coal mining and oil and gas drilling. We can’t keep leasing public lands to the fossil fuel industry and have any chance of reducing emissions or seriously confronting the climate crisis.

And due to Trump’s executive orders of undermining the Environmental Protection Act, along with the Water Protection Act. Big companies such as BP and Keystone, are free to muddy our waters with chemicals. Whilst also spewing poisonous gases into our ozone layer.

Just because Biden pledged to halt and undo Trump’s actions doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll DO. Let’s make him keep his words. By using our voices and signature.

Sign the petition and share.

Urge President-elect Biden to keep dirty fossil fuels in the ground

Stop Trump from oil drilling in our national forests!

The Trump administration wants to make it easier for oil companies to drill in national forests by squashing environmental reviews, public comments periods, and any oversight by the US Forest Service.

wallup.net

This would spell disaster for forests and the climate. Putting more carbon emissions in the air and out of its natural forest storage is absolutely the last thing this world or communities need!

Oil and gas developers would then be able to clear huge swaths of forests for toxic well pads, roads, and pipelines without much oversight.

If we’re going to save our special places and tackle the climate crisis, we need to stop dangerous oil and gas production in ALL our public lands and waters.

We need our Rainforests, without them animals would be extinct, air would also be hard to come by. Trees and other plants are what give us Oxygen. Please think of our future, please sign the petition to stop oil and gas drilling in ALL our public lands and waters.

Shadow Banning Advocates

Twitter has decided to shadowban not only my account yet that of my friend Gwen. I wonder if Twitter realizes just how detrimental that is to animal welfare.

We have followed their TOS to a T. Yet they have decided to secretly block our tweets. Our petition still needs signatures to pass legislation. Yet with this ban, It may not happen.

Petition: Outlaw The Declawing Of Cats

Several people wrote to my friend and co-journalist, telling us causes wasn’t counting or letting them sign. Which is a shame to say the least. Although, this puts us behind on our plans just a little. We have recreated the petition on Change.Org. Change doesn’t seem to have any issues when it comes to counting or letting people sign petitions. Therefore we will be sticking with them, until causes can rectify the issue they are having.

Moreover, this petition to have Pennsylvania outlaw cat declawing is very important to us and those who love their cats. This petition, if enough signatures obtained would change so many lives. Not just cats, yet for their guardians too.

I’m betting you are wondering how? Well first cats would no longer suffer excruciating pain or mental trauma. Second cat guardians will no longer have to watch their fur babies suffer from this barbaric act of cruelty. And third – cats will be able to be cats. (Just as nature intended)

Please sign, share or Retweet the petition, so we may obtain the signatures to get declawing outlawed.

Don’t Let Australia Poison And Kill Millions Of Stray #Cats: #Petition

by: Chelsea P.

Australia currently has an estimated six million stray cats. The Australian government is hoping to poison and kill TWO MILLION of these stray cats, by the year 2020!

The government’s cruel plan includes airdropping poisoned sausages for these cats to eat and painfully die from.

The Australian government has said the stray cats are a threat to native plants and farming. According to the scientists behind the poisoned sausages, the cats would die within 15 minutes of consumption.

Along with this, other Australians are often encouraged to trap and shoot the stray cats dead. In some areas of Australia, the government is offering money as a reward, per slain cat!

I urge you to demand Australia to think of a DIFFERENT and NON-LETHAL way, to stop the extinction of plant life!

If there are two million stray cats, why not implement a trap, neuter, release program instead! This method has been proven to work! Not only will it stop population growth, but it can also help adopt younger cats! Cats between the ages of newborn to 14 weeks old can be successfully adopted with minimal issues.

Other cats from six months to 2 years old can be adopted. It will just takes time to ease them into a domesticated lifestyle. The older cats could be placed in rescue/retirement sanctuaries. These sanctuaries offer a safe place for older cats to peacefully live out their lives. Much like any other animal sanctuary, caretakers are present to care for the animals. These cats would be neutered, vaccinated, fed, and given plenty of room to roam about.

The neuter-release, neuter-adopt, and neuter-sanctuary system, can and would work far better, than the planned murder of two millions cats. While murder is an instant solution for now, those population numbers will quickly rise again. Which will create an endless cycle of killing!

However, capture, neuter-release-adopt-or sanctuaries would permanently solve Australia’s current conundrum.

Please sign your name and urge the Australian government to adopt a non-lethal proposal instead!

Cats Need Claws: #Petition Please Sign

Cats need their claws for the following purposes:

Hunting: Cats are natural hunters. Their retractable claws provide them with traction while running and help them catch and hold onto their prey. If you watch the way your cat plays with its toys, you can see that while your indoor cat doesn’t need to hunt for its next meal, the practice of hunting and chasing is still an instinctual part of your cat’s behaviour.

Stretching: Being able to grip items, like your carpet, allows your cat to twist and stretch the full length of its body, which is not only a good form of exercise, but it’s also a great source of enjoyment for your cat.

Climbing: A cat’s claws are curved to help climb up trees and other surfaces to get to safety. For indoor cats, their claws allow them to grip items such as cat trees or furniture, so they don’t fall or slip.

Leaving their scent: When cats scratch an item, they leave behind a special scent produced from glands on their paws. This allows a cat to leave its signature behind as a message to other cats.

Protecting themselves: A cat’s claws act as a method of self-defence when faced with a predator. While indoor cats have little need to defend themselves, their claws still offer the security of knowing they have a form of protection. Cats also use their claws to communicate certain messages, for example swatting to communicate the need for distance.

Balance: When a cat is declawed, it’s not at all like clipping nails. Declawing is amputating the claw and related bone and muscle tissue. Without their claws, cats often have trouble balancing

Please help us end the barbaric declawing of cats. Outlaw the torture.
