Amazon is the largest retailer in the world.  We are all happy and grateful to have them especially when you don’t have the time or patience to go around shopping all the things you need. But unfortunately every time you order, tons of single use plastic arrives with your products. 

Let’s ask the company to reduce the amount of plastic used and avoid it when it is not necessary. 

Let’s ask them to stop using the plastic, bubble bags and switch to more eco friendly solutions. 

We cannot afford to keep polluting our planet at this rate and everyone but especially large corporations have the moral obligation to lead by example.

Protestors accuse Subway of causing animal suffering

Three UK animal protection organisations are urging the fast-food chain Subway to take immediate action on the suffering of chickens raised for meat.

As part of a European wide campaign in 14 countries, campaigners are highlighting Subway’s inaction through protests, petitions and social media. There are more than 42,000 franchise restaurants associated with Subway worldwide.

Animal Equality, Open Cages and The Humane League UK say Subway have ignored calls from all three organisations to improve chicken welfare in the footsteps of their competitors, such as KFC. Severe health issues due to selective breeding, extremely overcrowded sheds, and often ineffective stunning methods prior to slaughter, are all part of everyday life in the broiler chicken industry. The conditions on typical UK chicken farms are so harsh that birds often suffer from lameness, deformities and heart attacks, with many dying before they even reach the slaughterhouse.

A new set of standards called the Better Chicken Commitment is being signed by a wave of companies, most recently Leon, Wahaca and KFC. Approximately 200 companies from the USA and Europe have already committed to fulfil the requirements. The organisations state that Subway’s claims of high welfare standards are in direct contrast to reality, and highly misleading to their customers.

“Subway are seriously misleading their customers on animal welfare.”Says Open Cages CEO Connor Jackson. “As a leading animal protection organisation, we can assure that the conditions Subway chickens live in are horrific and outdated – and not ‘high standard’ as they claim. With competitor giants like KFC committing to better welfare, there is no excuse for Subway to continue allowing such suffering.”

“Along with Animal Equality and The Humane League, we are therefore forced to inform their customers directly with the launch of this campaign, with the hope that Subway will make the right decision and sign the Better Chicken Commitment. Their customers will not stand for animal cruelty.”

Subway has avoided making a concrete statement regarding the Better Chicken Commitment for the past two years, said Open Cages, even though the company has already agreed to implement higher animal welfare standards for broiler chickens in the USA and Canada.

The Better Chicken Commitment requires companies to source breeds with higher welfare outcomes, provide more space, and end the use of ineffective stunning methods for 100 percent of chickens in their meat supply chain.

Baby sea turtle found dead in South Florida had 104 pieces of plastic in its body

Dozens of tiny pieces of plastic dot the counter top next to the dead baby sea turtle.

The 104 remnants, which range from a wrapper to a twist tie used in trash bags, were found inside a baby sea turtle that washed ashore in Boca Raton this week.

”We found a piece of a balloon. There was a wrapper that goes on the outside of bottles,” said Whitney Crowder, a sea turtle rehabilitation coordinator at the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center in Boca.

After the center shared a photo of the turtle next to the bits of plastic on Facebook, the image went viral, having been shared more than 3,100 times.

This is why we need to keep plastic out of the oceans and upcycle/recycle and reuse everything, in order to keep the carbon footprint prints low and or nonexistent. Not to mention it will keep plastic from hurting our animal life.

Bolsonaro has advocated for the opening of new areas of the Amazon rainforest to agriculture and industry. As a result, BlackRock announced plans to expand its operations in Brazil after Bolsonaro was elected. Moves like this signal strong support for Bolsonaro, whose toxic rhetoric is inspiring violence against indigenous communities in the Amazon and beyond.

As one of the largest investors in Brazil’s agribusiness industry, BlackRock could use its financial clout to curb, not encourage, further forest destruction. It must divest from companies that continue these horrendous practices.

Dog Abandoned In Plastic Bin Near Highway In Falls: SPCA

FALLS TOWNSHIP, PA — The Bucks County SPCA is offering a reward for information about a dog found abandoned in poor condition in a plastic bin alongside a busy highway in Falls Township.

The dog — a small, terrier mix that SPCA staff have named Frodo — was found in the bin alongside Business Rt. 1 on Monday and taken to nearby Banfield Pet Hospital. According to SPCA officials, he was suffering from severe matting and had painful ear and eye infections.

Thankfully, staff say, he’s now being cared for and treated by the SPCA’s veterinary team. His heavily matted fur has been shaved and he’s receiving medication for his infections.

“Frodo has a long road ahead before he will be available for adoption by a family who will give him the love he deserves,” Bucks SPCA wrote on Facebook.

Abandonment of animals is a crime in Pennsylvania and the SPCA is encouraging anyone with information about Frodo to contact its cruelty investigation team at 215-794-7425 or reportcruelty@bcspca.org.

The group is offering a $2,000 reward for information.

Common Sense Gun Laws

Guns are dangerous in the wrong hands, no matter how much some would like to think otherwise. The fact remains we do need more common-sense gun laws and control.

We need to ban assault rifles, for civilian use. Ak47(WASR-10), Remington, M4, and M16 just to name a few, should not be accessible for civilians. Especially, those who are mentally unstable. Who are not only a danger to themselves, yet to others as well.

Those with a criminal background should be disallowed from purchasing and owning, those who are unstable should be denied. Thorough background checks need to be done.

Weapons Dealers (private sellers) sorry to say should have a license to sell and carry and be registered. As well as take classes to notice the signs of instability. I say this because of the constant mass shootings happening over the past few years. Everyone who owns or plans to purchase needs to register themselves.

This will cut crimes in half and make police work more efficient. By way of finding the owners faster during a shootout investigation.

These are consequences for horrid actions. I know I can’t be the only one tired of these travesties. Human life is precious, just like all life is.

Quite frankly, I don’t care for the NRA since they really have not been doing their true job. Which is supposed to mainly be for gun safety education. Yet lately it has been for lobbying on gun rights and ownership. instead of trying to place common-sense laws.

Truthfully I doubt they care about public safety anymore since they have been a big buyer for anti-law bills.

In order to fight for common-sense laws, people need to attend town meetings with facts and a calm demeanor.

Let me make this perfectly clear I’m not saying take guns away. I’m saying ban assault rifles that have been the biggest part of mass shootings. Assault rifles have been banned before during the Clinton administration and the massacres/gun violence WAS at an all-time low. We need to implement that law again for the populace’s safety.

We will work on a plan, statement for our area to present. When done we will share it here for others to use as a foothold for public safety.

Changes For Life To Be Better

Change is a big deal for most. Change albeit difficult must happen in order to have any chance of success in life or in happiness.

What has been happening in today’s society is a true travesty of humanity. From hate wars, open racism, and prejudices. From discrimination of the LGBTQ and the death of transgenders.

Nothing is right in the world, today. Nothing is right due to the fact that there is no open-mindedness and no tolerance. There is only intolerance and ignorance.

How can we change this? We can change this by bringing education to the masses. The true history of each culture and ethnic background. The true history of America, of how the first settlers and conquistadors treated the Natives of this land. The fight the LGBTQ community has had to go through.

Bringing back the real history may just prevent a repetition of events in the future.

It starts with us. It starts with teaching the difference and teaching the acceptance of everyone. It starts by standing United against hatred and racial injustices.

I for one hope to make a difference in the lives of others by advocating and acting on behalf of those who can’t speak due to tyranny and for those who have zero freedom.

I am working on a petition currently requesting that schools bring back the true history of Native Americans and other areas of importance in their curriculum. Seeing as since I left high school they stopped teaching the trail of tears and the history of Cortez, plus the history of the liberty statue. All of which is a big part of American history.

I will share it here when it’s complete.

MoMo: Owner Gave Alleged false surrender claim

Momo could die if not adopted soon. Upon surrendering Momo to the shelter the owner lied on the surrender form. Claiming Momo is aggressive and has two previous bite history.

Yet upon behavioral examination, Momo did not seem aggressive.

I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 7/26/2019, with the surrender reason stated as animal behavior – aggressive towards people.

Behavior during intake: Momo had a soft and relaxed body during intake. He approached the counselor right away and began to lick the counselors hand and jump on the counselors lap. Counselor was able to scan for a microchip, collar and take a picture without any issues.

Spay/Neuter Status: Neutered

Basic Information:: Momo is a 1 and a half year old neutered male that has no known current or previous medical concerns that the owner is aware of. Owner had Momo in the home since he was 2 months old but had to surrender due to Momo biting family members in the home

There are many people out there who lie on the intake form. Just so they don’t have to care for their companion anymore. Those that lie on the form need to realize that they are setting their companion up for the death penalty.

When surrendering an animal please be honest, with the receptionists. You will be surprised that more often than not people can be sympathetic to you. Knowing the difficulties of giving up a companion because of falling on hard times, forced to move and unable to care for due to failing health.

Cat Declawing: It’s Wrong

We need signatures, in order to be able to even think about handing in our petition, to outlaw cat declawing in the state of Pennsylvania.

Without your help, this barbaric practice will continue. The effects of declawing any cat outweigh mere item damage. Cats who’ve been declawed live life in pain. Never putting full weight on their paws, some get infections to where they need surgery to correct the damage caused. This can lead to more tissue death. Others become mentally ill by way of constantly licking their paw, to the point of rawness and down to their bone. Others shake their paw constantly.

New York, has banned declawing, let’s work together to do the same here.
